SUMMARY:Frozen Chosin Challenge - Winter Ruck
DESCRIPTION:The Missouri Korean War Veterans Memorial\, a 501(c)(3) in Kansas City\, Missouri is planning an event with Missouri State Parks that includes rigorous winter backpacking and bivouacking events within the Saint Francois Mountains of Missouri along the beautiful Ozark Trail and the Black River from December 5-7\, 2025. \nThe event honors all veterans by remembering those who participated in the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir that occurred during a brutal North Korean winter in 1950. This event is appropriately named “Frozen Chosin Challenge” and is kicking-off at Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park\, Middle Brook\, Mo. \nThis is not just a physical challenge — it’s a tribute.\nThe “Frozen Chosin Challenge” consists of three separate events over a single weekend:\n1. “Chosin Challenge” is a 40-mile\, 3-day ruck\, 2-night bivouac challenge.\n2. “Devil Dog Challenge” is a 17-mile\, 2-day ruck\, 1-night bivouac challenge.\n3. “Warrior Course” is a 4-mile\, 4-hour all accessible course. \nAll proceeds go toward scholarships\, veteran programs and preserving the Missouri Korean War Veterans Memorial. Please see link for more information or contact me directly. https://mokoreanwarmemorial.org/frozen-chosin-challenge/ \nMinimum age to participate is 15 years old\, provided the individual is registered and hiking with a parent/guardian or a member of the family 18 years or older. This event is for everyone and is all about remembrance\, fitness and pushing our limits.

SUMMARY:Castlewood 8-Hour Adventure Race
DESCRIPTION:Named by Terrain Magazine’s Readers as the Best Adventure Race in the area\, the Castlewood 8-Hour Adventure Race© has grown to become the third-largest adventure race in the country. And it’s all happening right here in St. Louis. \nWhat is Adventure Racing? A multi-sport\, off-road\, team event with no marked course. Teams must use a map and compass to navigate their way through a series of checkpoints on mountain bikes\, in canoes\, and or on foot to reach the Finish line. \nHow long is the race? Expect to cover 5-10 miles paddling\, 15-20 miles biking\, and 5-10 miles on foot. Please see the Frequently Asked Questions section for more information. \nRace Location: That’s a secret! Part of the appeal of adventure racing is charging into the unknown on race day. A course overview will be available closer to race time to help you plan your gear and food. Plan on four to eight hours of continuous movement through the woods\, rivers\, and roads of the St. Louis area. (Even though the event is named after Castlewood State Park\, we may not necessarily even go through the park on race day!)

SUMMARY:River's Edge Park Trail Build Day
DESCRIPTION:TBD on the specific build plans. Building a brand new singletrack trail approximately 2.5 miles in length. It’s a very flat park\, which will make this a beginner-friendly trail for the whole family. We will begin by clearing the corridor. The sawyers and leaf blowers have already been at work on this section\, so we will spend the day clearing the deadfall\, grubbing saplings\, and pruning back small branches.
