SUMMARY:Run for Freedom 5K/10K
DESCRIPTION:The 23rd annual Run for Freedom 5K and 10K\, sponsored by the West Central Missouri Veterans Assistance League (VAL)\, will be at 8 a.m. Sept. 13 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg. Runners from all over West Central Missouri and Eastern Kansas participate in this event to help enhance the lives of the veterans who live at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg. This is an exciting time for our home as we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary of serving veterans this September. \nThis event offers a 5K and 10K run that is USATF certified and uses a professional timing company to document running times. Participants are allowed to walk the race as well and is family friendly. \nMedals are presented to the top three finishers in each age category for the run by the veterans who live at the home. They love being able to give back to those who are instrumental in making the final chapters of their lives better. \nProceeds from this event go towards programs that improve the quality of life for our veterans. This includes everything from receiving prize money at every bingo game held\, enjoying an ice cold beer or glass of wine at our weekly happy hour\, listening to the sound of live music\, tasting amazing food like steak\, shrimp and lobster and going on outings all over Missouri. \nThis is an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those who have done so much for our freedom and for our country. Come Run for Freedom!

SUMMARY:Lost Valley Luau
DESCRIPTION:Lost Valley Luau is raced on the Lost Valley Trail in Defiance\, MO. This 11.5 mile loop has it all: flowing single track\, technical root & rock formations\, and some relentless double track. The race is run counter-clockwise\, forcing racers to climb up the double track and the descend on the single track. \nThe surface of the Lost Valley Trail single track\, even in the flowing sections\, is extremely rocky\, and as such the trail is among the fastest draining trails in the area. However\, don’t be fooled\, the early Spring date often brings a twist to trail conditions (prepare for the worst\, hope for the best) as the Race will be run rain or shine. \nNew for 2025\, the race will start/finish at the Lost Valley Lower Lot Gate\, and uses the double track as a connector to the Main Lost Valley Loop. This lengthens each lap to 11.5 miles long\, and every lap after completing the Beaver Time Section\, participants will follow the double track back to the Start/Finish line to start their next lap.
