SUMMARY:Lost Valley Luau
DESCRIPTION:This 11.5 mile loop has it all: flowing single track\, technical root & rock formations\, and some relentless double track. The race is run counter-clockwise\, forcing racers to climb up the double track and the descend on the single track. \nThe surface of the Lost Valley Trail single track\, even in the flowing sections\, is extremely rocky\, and as such the trail is among the fastest draining trails in the area. However\, don’t be fooled\, the early Spring date often brings a twist to trail conditions (prepare for the worst\, hope for the best) as the Race will be run rain or shine. \nNew for 2025\, the race will start/finish at the Lost Valley Lower Lot Gate\, and uses the double track as a connector to the Main Lost Valley Loop. This lengthens each lap to 11.5 miles long\, and every lap after completing the Beaver Time Section\, participants will follow the double track back to the Start/Finish line to start their next lap. \n \nRace Day Registration: NO

SUMMARY:Iron Spokes Enduro
DESCRIPTION:It’s been called “Legit” “Gnarly” “World Class” by the industry press. The folks that know this little corner of chunky heaven simply call it Shepherd Mountain. Here at the MES we are calling it Iron Spokes Enduro. You asked for it and we agree\, it’s possibly the best all-around Enduro test and we cannot wait to get back to this amazing venue. \n  \nBefore we get into the details\, MES wants to give a shoutout to the City of Ironton and the local trail stewards that keep this venue in amazing condition. This is no small task and it takes regular attention to keep this mountain going year-round. \n  \nDid you know that Shepherd Mountain is the 2nd most prominent mountain in Missouri? Shepherd mountain boast over 620 feet of straight vertical rise (Its technically over 700ft but we would have to go through town all the way to the river.) Couple that with courses that are always engaging and keep throwing more and more challenges at riders\, racers will definitely know they completed something special. \n  \nFor the Iron Spokes Enduro\, racers will have two enduros to choose from. All categories will do 5-6 stages. All racers will pedal transfer 2-4 stages and get shuttle service for 2-3 stages. These numbers will be finalized on the course map for registered racers. Beginners and Amateurs can expect a race a mix of greens\, blues\, and the easier black trails. \n  \nPro and Experts will get to dice down the spice on Shepherd’s most legendary trails. These can include many of the similar trails from the Beginner and Amateurs enduro but will also include Powder Keg and the double black trail Cannonball. \n  \nAs is consistent with all MES enduros there will be A/B lines and there is NO MANDATORY AIR required on any stage for any category. \n  \nWe cannot wait to see the entire region come out and enjoy this gem of a mountain right here in Missouri.

SUMMARY:Ozark Mountain Challenge
DESCRIPTION:We have partnered with the Missouri State Parks (Sam A. Baker Park)\, along with 2025 Platinum Sponsor Missouri Highlands Healthcare\, to see who can hike 7\,980’ elevation (The height of Mt. Olympus) right here in the beautiful Ozark region in Missouri. Each participant will have twelve hours to hike EIGHT times (change for 2026*) up Mudlick Mountain. Mudlick Mountain has the second highest vertical increase in the entire state of Missouri. Hiking eight times up\, the vertical ascent is equal to hiking Mount Olympus in the state of Washington. Why did we choose Mt. Olympus as a benchmark? Although in Greek mythology Olympus meant “mountain” or “gathering place of the gods”\, in modern times Olympus represents “a place or state of joy and happiness.” The total hiking distance is approximately 21 miles. Each hiker will be shuttled back down to the base after each successful ascent. The hiking route has changed for 2026 (so we don’t have hikers and shuttles on the same road*). The route is Mudlick Hike Only Trail (available on All Trails app)\, to Mudlick Equestrian and Hike Trail\, to the spur to Fire Tower Trail. This trail is rated “hard” by All Trails for its rugged terrain and (near 28% at times) incline. Once at the summit of Mudlick Mountain\, shuttles will then take hikers back down to the trailhead. This challenge is NOT a race. It is the external (physical) YOU versus the internal (mental) YOU. Other participants & race volunteers will be encouraging you along the way. If you can’t complete all 8 times/21 miles\, we will celebrate your ascent achievement; even if it is one time (nearly 950′ elevation change and 2.6 miles)! If you competed in the past and insist on “beating last year”\, you can ascend additional times after you “Conquer Mt. Olympus”\, but you still have 12 hours. \n*After careful consideration and out of an abundance of caution\, we have decided to adjust the course for The Ozark’s Mountain Challenge for 2026.\nSafety has always been our top priority. Although we believe Dwayne and his drivers (at Otahki Lake KOA) are the best\, many of you have shared concerns about participants being on the road alongside shuttle traffic\, and we agree that this is not ideal. Additionally\, we recognize that hiking on trails is more enjoyable and natural than on a gravel road\, and no one enjoys the smell of vehicle fumes while hiking.\nOur goal is to ensure the longevity of this event and\, most importantly\, the safety of our amazing community—many of whom return year after year (some will even be sporting lizard tattoos in 2026!). We also want to open the experience to more participants\, and this change will help us do just that.
